ASICS is pleased to announce a collaboration with Chinese designer brand 8ON8, joining forces to unveil a collection of sneakers that re-interpreted ASICS’ GEL-KAYANOTM 14 sneaker. This partnership is rooted in the shared vision of the two brands, paying homage to 30 years of the iconic GEL-KAYANOTM series through reimagined designs and evolution approaches.
Guided by the design principle "Form Follows Function", the 8ON8 x ASICS GEL-
KAYANOTM 14 shoe seamlessly merges outdoor functionality with the vibrant CITY
POP neon colorsreminiscent of the 1980s. This accentuates its iconic retro-futuristic
aesthetic while staying true to a delicate balance of functionality.
The new collection comes in two colorways: azure blue/pink and graphite
black/dark green. Using highly saturated colors as the base, the sneakers seamlessly
integrate with multiple unique details. 3D linear printing technology utilizes laser-
cut lines, which redefine the highly recognizable upper design. This approach
skillfully blends retro sports aesthetics with cutting-edge technology. In addition,
the microfiber material provides a soft feel underfoot, which is complemented by
thickened multi-textured TPU at the toe, adding a dynamic sense of outdoor style.
