Vans Pro Classics are back and better than ever. First we get the Sk8-Hi added to the line thanks to Christian Hosoi, as well as the Pro insole getting a re-jig for better board feel.
The forefoot Gel section on the Ultracush HD insole has gotten the flick, making way for a simple foam section. The reasoning behind this move was feedback from the Vans pro team was that they required more board feel. Don’t fret, as the gel section in the heel remains and that was the most important part anyway.
Christian Hosoi’s affinity with the Sk8-Hi is indisputable. Now thanks to that we get to see it added to the Pro Classics range, seen here in it’s contemporary notch-back form. Cutting that little piece out of the ankle material makes a world of difference, those that wear the Sk8-Hi enough will know what we’re talking about.
As well as the obvious Pro touches, this version gets built from a heavyweight black suede that features a perforated camouflage pattern along the mid panels, accented by the blood red form stripe. It also cops a contrast top eyelet and custom tongue tag.
For those who prefer their footwear less vertical, there’s also two pairs of Era Pro’s to choose from.
Dressed in Rio Red, the first comes seated on a gum sole which basically makes anything ten times better. The use of the semi-translucent material means that the Duracap strip is visible in the toe as well which is a nifty touch.
Odd Future is back with a vengeance and they’ve come packing two brand lines now. To clear things up, there is now Odd Future and Golf Wang clothing lines. Odd Future deals with the in-line basics whilst the Golf Wang collection is more exclusive. It’s a bit confusing at first but you can work it out pretty quickly by peeping the tags inside.
Confusing diffusion lines aside, we’ve just received a bunch of stuff from the LA rappers-come-cultural icons. There’s tees, socks, beanies, hats and a hoodie and it’s all available online and in-store now.
adidas Skateboarding is back in black! AC/DC puns aside, we do indeed have some new colourways from the skateboarding arm of the brand with the three stripes. Contained in this delivery is a Adi Ease designed by Pete Eldridge and a blacker-than-the-deepest-pits-of-hell-itself Lucas Pro Model.
Ok so we over-exaggerated there for a bit, there’s probably blacker pits in hell but that’s not really the point is it? The lightweight champion of the adi Skate range gets reworked in an all-over black motif fitting of the Jigga man himself.
What’s better it’s set off with golden accents; even the inner Sprint Skin gets the ballin’ treatment. Finished off with a gum outsole, these are serious shoes for the serious man. Get ‘em before they’re gone.
Sat alongside the Lucas, Pete Eldridge’s take on the Adi Ease is practically saint-like, with a shimmery material that as far as we can tell is either a waxed leather or canvas. The mystery only adds to them in all honesty.
The rest of the shoe is finished off with white accents and a classic gummy outsole. It’s all pretty basic, but in a time where it seems like footwear is getting more and more out of control it’s refreshing to get something a bit more on the subdued side. Both shoes are available in-store and online now.
